Our Last Views of the Ocean

I didn’t want to say good bye.  The week was one of memories and connections.  It was the first time Brendan and Nicole had really gotten to be part of the family, and in a lot of ways, it was my first time getting to know some of the people I’ve been related to my whole life.  After a week of living together, I think I have a much better grasp of who the people I share blood with are, and I am happy to say I am proud to be related to them.  I loved our late night conversations and morning walks on the beach.  Family meals and game nights, popcorn and wine, lots of laughter and togetherness made for a once in a lifetime experience.  My favorite memories include six handed euchre, our failed attempt at seeing the turtles hatch and the conversation that lasted until 3 a.m., playing in the ocean, including the day of the monster waves, our family picnic for my parent’s anniversary, our double date with Eric and Nicole for some of the best pancakes I’ve ever eaten, walking to the pier and going for ice-cream afterwards, our epic family t-shirts, family feud, even when my dad tricked Brendan, 20 questions and would you rather? during the car rides, gestures, especially when Liam acted me out, sharing a bed with Nicole, even when we didn’t have to, thrift shopping with the girls, booking our Alaskan honeymoon, family dinner every night, oh hell tournaments and Liam’s enthusiasm for them, and most importantly, every minute I got to spend with the people I love most.  I couldn’t have asked for a better family vacation or a greater group of people to create memories with.
