A Berry War, a Dip in the Pond and a Haircut for Dominik

Although today could have been just another day, it wasn’t.  Picking berries with Dominik and Rosa turned into a red currant war with each of us as casualties.  I was just being silly and throwing a couple berries at Dominik as we were picking.  He flung a few back, and before I knew it, Rosa was involved.  I escalated the interaction by grabbing a handful of berries and attempting to smash them in Dominik’s face, just as he had the exact same thought to do the same to me.  We collided and war broke out.  After a half hour of on and off berry smashing, I had red currant all over my face, all over my clothes and tangled throughout my hair.  My partners in crime looked similarly.  After picking (and fighting with!) berries, we headed inside to relax by eating cake.  Still sticky and stained in red, we decided to give jumping in the pond a go.  Rosa and I ran out, stripped down to t-shirts and underwear and cannonballed into the water.  Due to the extreme cold, I had a delayed scream, and Rosa said she thought something must be wrong with me because she didn’t hear me yelping immediately.  Sigi and Dominik soon joined us, but our bodies couldn’t endure the cold for long, and we scadoodled on out of there.  After properly showering and getting all the grossness off of us, we helped Yvonne make jam and then had enough time to cut Dominik’s hair before dinner.  The plan of cutting his hair has been several days in the making, and I volunteered to be the hairdresser.  I amply informed him of my inexperience, but he insists that I told him I’m a good hair cutter.  Whatever the story, I am not meant to be a beautician.  I cut his hair in chunks and left what Mara described as steps in the back of his head.  I also left a bald spot.  It looked ridiculous.  Luckily, Rosa was able to go back through his hair and fix all my blunders.  It turned out fine, although there is still a small bald spot, but at least it can be a funny story…Dominik, remember that time I cut your hair?  It’s only funny already because everything turned out OK.  I love how much fun I have with the people around me and how an ordinary day can turn into a super-awesome-fun day.

  1. I don't think I want you to cut any of my hair, especially since I have so little to spare. Looks like you are still having a lot of fun. Can't wait to see you in a little over a week. Love You!
